Reflecting On
The First Half
Of This Year
W
e are already into the second half of 2017. They say
time flies when you are having fun. And we sure had
some fun in the first half of 2017. Ending the first half of
2017 with our celebration of Independence Day Fireworks
explosion was a perfect reflection of the first half of this
year.
During the evening of Independence Day Celebration,
a slide show was running nonstop in the Poinciana
Community Center. We all hope you had time to go in and
enjoy reminiscing about the activities and events that have
been held in Poinciana since January 2017.
We began the year with our first ever Poinciana Beautiful
Awards Gala held in January 2017. Recognizing and
rewarding homeowners that take pride in their properties.
A homeowner from each village was awarded the home of
the year award. It was an absolute sparkling formal affair
and another first for Poinciana.
And we ended the first six months with the most spectacular
fireworks display that lit up the skies as if to say, “Poinciana
is here and we are proud of the community we share”.
Our August first edition of the Pioneer is going to be full of
all the amazing details and photographs of that evening.
But in-between those 2 major events, LifeStyles produced
many wonderful activities and events, for the residents to
enjoy.
There was the family game night and family bingo nights
two great evenings to connect with your family and your
neighbors, making memories to share forever. And let’s
not forget our Friday night adult bingo, an activity that has
been wanted in the community for a long time.
A super bowl party watching the big game on the big
screen, was another first time ever event.
Paint nights are always a favorite in Poinciana. We have
had several sold-out paint nights, showing that this is going
to be a favorite activity, so much so that we held
one for Mothers and Children for Mother’s Day.
Movie night under the Stars, showing the Disney
movie Mauna was another great success. We
plan on have many more in the future, especially
after our new Amphitheater is completed at Vance
Harmon Park.
This year’s Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Fest
featuring a helicopter egg drop, brought out over
2000 residents to the Community Yard. Mr. and
Mrs. Easter Bunny rounded out that day to the
thrills of all the little ones.
A Casino Cruise bus trip in May made for a day
to get away and enjoy a day at sea and even to
try your luck at one of the casino tables.
Why should the teens have all the fun? Prom night
for the adults was also held in May, with dancing
and laughing all together at the basketball court
in the fitness center. What a wonderful time to
relive the high school days.
The opening of the Mary Jane Arrington Gym
and Aquatic Center was also part of Mays
happenings. With guest speakers and daytime
fireworks, it was a day we will not soon forget.
This beautiful facility is now a part of Poinciana
forever and owned by the homeowners of
Poinciana.
Memorial Day was memorialized with a
ceremony honoring our fallen soldiers, a free
swim at the Arrington Pool and topped off with a
movie under the stars showing the movie MAX.
June brought with it Father’s Day with a bus trip
to the Orlando City Soccer Game. What a perfect
way for some one on one time with a Dad and his
children.
Polynesian Luau night was a time for adults to
come together and enjoy each other with laughter
and dance. A wonderful time was had by all in
attendance.
With the help from our wonderful Community
Sponsors: FirstService Residential and Valencia
College, we hope to amaze you in the second
half of 2017. The best is yet to come. God Bless
Poinciana!
